The Golf 7R combines a very powerful engine and transmission system, that is capable of delivering massive power even from an almost stock parts configuration. This car in particular came with an upgraded downpipe and everything else left stock.
Please note that it is very important for these engines to be equipped with a revision H turbo, which is the latest and most durable of the IS38s that have been produced. Early IS38 turbos made in 2014 and 2015 were prone to failure because of design issues, that were later fixed. These early turbos have a very high risk of failure even on completely stock cars and the models affected are the VW Golf7R, Audi S3 8V, Seat Leon Cupra 5F, Skoda Superb, which are all equipped with the same engine.
