Peugeot 208 GTI THP208 - Etuners Stage2 98RON EP6-FDTX

Out of the many colours we have seen 208 in, white is probably the most beautiful and rarest ones.
The car was produced in 2017 and has the latest THP engine version: EP6-FDTX with 208 hp stock. It came to us with upgraded exhaust and an unusual cold air intake kit. Unusual because it is rare to see such a setup, because the airflow sensor gets strange readings in THP200 and THP208 engines from that pipe geometry.

With the factory map, upgraded hardware and 98-octane gasoline it made 211.1 hp on our dyno. The power delivery in the mid rpm was a bit strange but justified from the upgraded hardware.

Our white French asked for a little more affection and love, so after spending many hours on the dyno, we saw it again a few days later to finish the remap. Fortunately, the result proved to be excellent. 242 hp, never seen before at this stage. It left the owner with a big smile after driving the car. As with all 208 GTi, here too we have heat soaking of the factory intercooler at high revs, so the power delivery becomes bad as the intercooler core heat soaks.

Έχουμε δει το 208 σε πολλά χρώματα. Το λευκό του ταιριάζει πολύ και μάλλον είναι το σπανιότερο ανάμεσα στα GTi.
Το αυτοκίνητο έχει τη τελευταία έκδοση του κινητήρα THP: EP6-FDTX με 208 ίππους εργοστασιακά. Ήρθε σε εμάς με αναβαθμισμένη εξάτμιση και ένα λίγο ασυνήθιστο κιτ εισαγωγής κρύου αέρα.

Με το εργοστασιακό πρόγραμμα, τα αναβαθμισμένα περιφερειακά και βενζίνη 98οκτανίων μετρήθηκε 211 ίππους. Η συμπεριφορά του στις μεσαίες ήταν λίγο παράξενη αλλά δικαιολογείται αν αναλογιστεί κανείς ότι έχει εξάτμιση και δεν υπάρχει πλεον το εργοστασιακό φιλτροκούτι.

Η λευκή μας Γαλλίδα ζήτησε λίγο περισσότερη στοργή και αγάπη, με αποτέλεσμα αφού αφιερώσαμε πολλές ώρες στο δυναμόμετρο, να την ξαναδούμε λίγες μέρες μετά για να ολοκληρώσουμε τον προγραμματισμό. Ευτυχώς το αποτέλεσμα μας δικαίωσε (242 άλογα δεν έχουμε ξαναδεί από τέτοιο στάδιο) και άφησε τον ιδιοκτήτη με ένα μεγάλο χαμόγελο, αφού την οδήγησε. Όπως σε όλα τα 208 GTi, έτσι κι εδώ έχουμε υπερθέρμανση του εργοστασιακού intercooler στις υψηλές στροφές, με αποτέλεσμα η ισχύς να μη μπορεί να μείνει σταθερή. Εις το επανειδείν λοιπόν!

Ένα θερμό ευχαριστώ στον ιδιοκτήτη που με υπομονή μας περίμενε μέχρι να κάνουμε σωστά τη δουλειά μας.

    I am wondering what exactly gives the THP208 its extra power over the THP 175. Is it the turbo? if so will the bigger turbo fit on the THP175 manifold, or if not will the complete manifold and turbo fit the THP175 engine?. I have the THP175 and am adding the front mount cooler, the cold air pod and upgraded exhaust. I am looking for about 250BHP Or as close as i can get without changing the turbo apart from bigger wheels.. Any suggestions as to what i need to achieve this? Ime hoping to retain the twin scroll turbo, but will happily fit bigger intake and exhaust wheels if they are available! Ime also after a six speed box. Will they fit on the five speed engine? About what is the asking price for a six speed? I plan to use etuners for much of the stuff i need. Cooler,pod and remap etc! I will have it finished on a dyno down here in Tasmania. My car is a 2008 207Gti. Also. I would like to run an aftermarket ECU if possible for controlling the engine. I suppose some functions will have to be run with the standard ECU but i dont know for sure? Ime hoping to eliminate some of the common fault codes that are always popping up. The de pollution one in particular. I sometimes lose power which can be fixed by turning the engine on and off but its a big pain in ass. hence the aftermarket ECU[maybe]. Any help here would be appreciated:)

    Hey Shane, I see nobody got back to you here – I will share a few bits and pieces of knowledge in the hope that it helps you out. I previously owned a modified 208 GTi and I can tell you that the differences between the EP6CDTX/FDTX (208 GTi) and the EP6DTS lie mainly in the head. The CDTX/FDTX versions of the THP engine have variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust sides of the engine, and variable lift on the intake side, hence they are both able to produce significantly more power while still conforming to Euro 5/6 emissions standards. To my knowledge, both engines use the Borgwarner K03 turbo, so I do not believe that a turbo from a later series engine would be of any benefit – you’d be better off looking at an aftermarket hybrid option if you wanted to go down that path. To get remotely close to 250hp you would need something like: Full exhaust and downpipe, aftermarket intake kit, water / meth injection kit, aftermarket intercooler, and of course a remap. I don’t think aftermarket engine management would be worth the time and money – I also don’t personally know of any aftermarket engine management system that supports the EP6 engines out of the box.
