Yanmar is a diesel engine manufacturer from Osaka, Japan. They produce units for generator sets, heavy machinery, agricultural machinery, construction equipment, earth movers and marine vessel engines. The small to medium sized units it produces are very versatile. And used among a very wide range of applications.
The engines themselves are also very tunable. Exactly because of the big diversification in operational requirements, we can provide improved engine tunes, calibration solutions and software solutions based on each application.
4JH series
In marine applications for sailboats and small craft propulsion the 4JH45, 4JH57, 4JH80 and 4JH110 series are all excellent platforms for tuning.

Software wise, all of the above are based on the same electronic control unit: Bosch EDC17CV54 (common part code is 0281020276 with also newer replacements).
Tuning options
It is possible to upgrade the 4JH45 to power like the 4JH57. The 4JH57 and 4JH45 to 65hp from 57hp and 45 respectively. Confusing? Not at all. The difference between them lies only with the software they are running.
The 4JH110 can go up to 130hp with a Stage1 tune. And in the case of 4JH80, upgrade to 110hp. Or go all the way to 130hp like the 4JH110, since they share the same base parts – turbocharger included. Again, the base difference between them is in the software they are running.
