The Peugeot 308 T9 1.2Puretech100 with OPF / GPF went into production in 2018. In case you have not driven the car, it feels very lively despite its small engine. Handling, steering and braking are a joy. Acceleration, maybe not so much.

There are significant mechanical differences compared to the previous Puretech/Euro6 engines. A Gasoline Particle Filter was added after the turbo. For this reason, the Puretech110 became Puretech100. Euro 6B emission standards are no joke. On the plus side the turbo was upgraded, got a blowoff valve on it and an electronic wastegate actuator. The new engine management system is Valeo VD56. Our prayers were answered and it comes with a wideband oxygen sensor in the exhaust. The Puretech100’s sister is the Puretech130. With a little bit more stock power and torque but clearly much more expensive to buy.

As you may have suspected, remapping the small one can reach and surpass the power level of the stronger one. Due to the electronics upgrade, we noticed that the very successful software solutions we had developed for the Valeo VD46 ECU in models up to 2017 were no longer applicable. The new upgrade was designed from scratch: It took us months of development to perfect it. Today we proudly present it to you.

This 308 came with a cold air intake kit from Pavlidis Competition and 98RON petrol. With the stock mapping, it produced 105 hp engine power, on our dyno. The engine ecu was tuned with a #Etuners Stage1 remap. Power increased to 146 hp, with a significant increase in torque as well.

As you will see in the dyno diagram, special emphasis was given to performance at mid and high rpm, where the car consistently gains 40 horsepower over stock. From the tests so far we have concluded that the Puretech130 also reaches 145-150 hp with a stage1 tune. Given that these engines are just 1.2liters, they definitely seem to be very tunable.

Upgrade specifications

  • 98RON fuel
  • Cold air intake kit (optional)
  • #Etuners Stage1 ECU remap for Valeo VD56.1

Performance results

  • Maximum engine power: 146hp (measured stock 105hp), gains 41hp
  • Maximum engine torque: 187 ft*lbs (measured stock at 153ft*lbs), gains 34 ft*lbs
