VW Tiguan NF Gen3 MQB 1.5TSI (DADA) MY2020 – Stage1 95/98RON

The newest 1.5TSI engines, engine code DADA are based on the Miller cycle. Which means that they are very very fuel efficient. Much better than anything we had seen before. With increased compression ratio and technological innovations in engine management that was not possible before, this engine manages to get as close to a diesel engine as possible with regards to fuel efficiency. This however, comes at a cost to performance. When comparing them to an Otto cycle engine of the same volume, Miller engines tend to have a 20% penalty in power.

If this engine was on a Polo or a lightweight Golf, things would be sortof alright. But on the Tiguan, every last bit of power is absolutely necessary in order to move around with adequate power. In terms of engine options, this is probably the weakest on the platform. Specially when the car is loaded with the whole family and luggage.

We developed an #etuners Stage1 ECU tune that brings power up by almost 30hp compared to stock and torque 52Nm.

Upgrade specifications

  • 95/98RON fuel
  • Stock hardware
  • #etuners Stage1 ECU remap for Bosch MG1CS111

Performance results

  • Maximum engine power: 175hp (measured stock 147hp), gains 28hp
  • Maximum engine torque: 293Nm (measured stock 241Nm), gains 52Nm
