Mercedes SL63 AMG

One of our favourite engines to tune and hear roar in the dyno room: the 6.2L V8 from AMG.
A few days ago we had the pleasure to tune this handmade engine in a Mercedes SL63 AMG with an Etuners Stage 1 on 98RON fuel.
The car came bone stock and produced 466hp and  550Nm of torque.
After remapping, the car produced 530hp and 640Nm of torque.

The main reason for those high gains of power on this N/A engine is that from the factory the timing advance is in low levels, the fueling is extremely lean in most of the powerband until 6000rpm that starts to become too rich because the throttle body that starts to close from 6000rpm until the rev limiter.

Upgrade specifications

  • 98RON fuel
  • Etuners Stage1 ECU remap

Performance results

  • Maximum flywheel horsepower: 530PS (measured 466PS as stock), gains 64PS
  • Maximum flywheel torque: 640Nm (measured 550 Nm as stock), gains 90Nm

 

Recomended upgrades for another +20Hp

  • Exhaust upgrade: from Armytrix, Innotech, Acrapovic etc.
  • Aftermarket free flow air filtrers in the stock filter boxes.
