VW Golf 7GTi 2.0TSI DSG6 MY2015 – Stage4 Garrett G30-900 on E85
A fully built EA888 Gen3 engine together with a good DSG gearbox can offer a very good platform for drag projects. Not only because the management system allows mixing fuel types, together with 4gdi and 4mpi injectors – out of the box. But also because it offers very good control options at very high boost levels. With closed loop lambda and wideband knock sensing active. Also while maintaining a very good level of drivability when off boost.
Just bare in mind, even with all this technology and features we would not have imagined 15 years ago, to make 600+whp out of a 2 liter engine there are sever limitations on its usage. This is a drag project, designed to run the quartermile. You will not drive your kids to school nor go to the supermarket on a full race setup like this one. Not because it does not drive well but because the setup costs too much to daily drive.
What you will need for this recipe:
- Built engine with upgraded pistons and connecting rods.
- Upgraded fueling system, with a high flow low pressure fuel pump and a larger high pressure fuel pump.
- 980Cc mpi injectors instead of the stock ones, able to run ethanol fuel blends.
- Big map sensors so that we can see boost and calibrate fueling/timing and torque above 2bar, when stock map sensors max out.
- Garrett G30-900 with an external wastegate.
- Upgraded clutches for the gearbox, together with a Stage4 tune with high clutch pressure, so it can withstand the torque.
- A custom #etuners Stage4 engine tune developed on dyno specifically for this setup. Because projects like this never work with an off the shelf tune – that is just wishful thinking!
