Amigo01 Power Display: Bringing F1-Inspired Telemetry to the Citroen Ami, Fiat Topolino, and Opel Rocks

The 2026 Formula 1 regulations introduced complex hybrid power units that split power 50/50 between the gasoline engine and the electric motor. Because F1 drivers must constantly manage strict battery deployment limitations to protect cell health, managing energy flow has become a massive part of modern racing strategy. While the scale is entirely different, we face the exact same challenges when tuning electric micro-cars.
That is why we developed the Amigo01. It is a specialized digital assistant designed for the Citroen Ami, Fiat Topolino, and Opel Rocks. Think of it as a real-time telemetry tool built for the random F1 driver who happens to take a micro-EV to the supermarket.

The tool was designed to assist the random Formula1 driver who might be driving this little car as a daily. To better understand the new hybrid powertrain technology’s base concepts. All while having fun going to the supermarket.

What Amigo01 Displays in Real-Time

Amigo01 connects seamlessly to your car via the OBD2 diagnostic port. It provides a clean, racing-style interface to monitor your powertrain:
  • F1-Style Gear Display: Shows the currently engaged gear.
  • Live Motor Metrics: Instant power, torque, and motor RPM.
  • Energy Consumption: Live estimates per 100km, trip usage, and total lifetime consumption.
  • Battery Health: Displays exact traction battery percentage (instead of remaining distance) and 12V service battery voltage.
  • Regen & Charging: Tracks energy regained via regenerative braking and power pulled from the mains socket.
  • System Status: Monitors the motor mode (idle, drive, harvest, charge) and handbrake status.

Why Real-Time Monitoring Matters

If you are driving a stock micro-EV, the Amigo01 helps you master energy harvesting and maximize your daily range.

However, if you are running our Stage 1, 2, or 3 ECU tunes, this display becomes an absolute necessity. Our custom firmware lifts stock limitations and allows the motor to push up to twice its original power.

When you push a vehicle as much, monitoring data is crucial. The Amigo01 allows you to watch exactly how the motor management deploys power, ensuring you do not overheat the motor or degrade your traction battery health.

Capabilities and Limitations

What it does: It reads diagnostic data layers to display crucial powertrain parameters.

What it cannot do: It is a passive monitoring tool. It cannot alter engine modes, delete factory speed limiters, or increase motor power on its own. To unlock more power, you must flash our custom traction ECU first.
To do all of the cheeky things mentioned above, you need us to tune the traction ECU first.

On our tunes, which are highly tweaked/remapped versions of the Ami and the Topolino firmware, these parameters become very important. As the power limitations are lifted and the motor can produce almost twice as much compared to stock. Tracking all of the above becomes crucial. Trying not to hurt the battery‘s health from constant abuse and not melt the motor from too much power. We want to know exactly when and how the motor management unit introduces limitations to power delivery.

How is this related to Formula1

2026 regulations brought in new hybridpowerunits favoring heavy electric motor use. 50% power comes from gasoline and the other 50% comes from the (small-ish) battery. Gasoline power dropped to 540hp from 740hp. Electric power went up to 470hp from 160hp in the previous ones. That is a crazy amount of electric power that needs to come from somewhere. Deploying so much means that the new cars have very increased battery requirements. The new batteries are Lithium-ion with 9MJ capacity, with special dielectric oil to keep cell temperature under control. But the battery is not big enough to do a full lap flat-out. Not even a full straight flat-out. Or do a race start without harvesting to charge it first. The gasoline engine works as a generator while this happens: you will notice cars redlining for a few seconds at a standstill during race start practice. Big headache to the drivers: Deployment limitations to the battery output so as not to damage its health. Base parameters affecting power delivery are cell temperature, electric motor temperature and battery voltage.
While the scale is completely different, those are the exact same parameters we are monitoring for maximum performance via Amigo01 for the Ami/Topolino/Rocks.

Availability

We are currently manufacturing the Amigo01 units entirely in-house. Because they are built per request, production numbers are strictly limited.
