A little while ago, a committee of geniuses at Stellantis decided to retire the almighty 2.0 HDi. Apparently, the legendary engine wasn’t “good enough” for Euro 6D+ emissions standards. It was cast aside as if it hadn’t been one of the best diesel engines ever made.
So here we are today, stuck with its replacement: the 1.5 BlueHDi. Let’s just call him “Francois”. Because the long name is already giving me a headache. To ensure Francois was Euro6D+ compliant, his maker made sure an ad-pee was added to the exhaust. To mix Urea with hot diesel exhaust gas inside a set of catalytic converters longer than an Austrian Alphorn. That, in theory, would make emissions very clean. Assuming that fantastic system would work flawlessly and forever, without any problems. Knowing what we know today, how different things turned out to be!

• How it works now: Your AdBlue system functions exactly as before. However, if a fault occurs, you will only get a warning light. The car will not lock you out. You can safely drive to a garage like a normal human being, rather than hitching a humiliating ride on a tow truck to the nearest dealership.

• Maximum engine power: 155hp, from 126hp stock. Gains 29hp
• Maximum engine torque: 348Nm, from 275Nm stock. Gains 73Nm
